Checklist: 6 things to check before publishing affiliate content

Writing an article containing affiliate links is an opportunity to monetize your content while bringing real added value to your readers. But for your content to be both effective and credible, several elements need to be rigorously checked before publication. Here's the complete checklist to follow for content that's both effective, transparent and useful.

1. Have I clearly indicated that this is affiliated content?

Transparency is essential to maintain your readers' trust, and is also a legal requirement in many countries. Clearly indicate that your content contains affiliate links, in compliance with current regulations.

Example : " This article contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase via one of these links, I will receive a commission, without changing the price for you."

💡If you use Affilizz widgets, legal notices are already included.

2. Is my information accurate and up-to-date?

Your readers expect reliable, up-to-date information. Carefully check all the information provided, including product features, prices, warranties and delivery times.

Also check that your affiliate links are working: it would be a shame if your audience were ready to buy a product via your recommendation, but were faced with a broken or incorrect link! Test each affiliate link to make sure it leads directly to the product in question.

Tip: also make sure that any promo codes or discounts are working properly. Of course, if you use Affilizz, you can skip this step!

3. Are my visuals attractive and relevant?

Visuals play a major role in the attractiveness of content. Choose high-quality, attractive images and videos that relate directly to the recommended product. Ideally, even make your own test images of the product ! It's an asset for the confidence of your audience, as well as for SEO.

For example, for an article on a GoPro-type camera, show not only photos of the product, but also photos or videos demonstrating its performance in real-life situations.

4. Have I optimized my article for SEO (titles, keywords)?

Search engine optimization is essential to ensure that your article appears in search engine results and generates qualified traffic.

Quick SEO checklist :

  • Catchy, clear title with main keywords
  • H1, H2, H3 tags correctly used
  • Natural repetition of relevant keywords
  • Alt text for images
  • Engaging meta-description

Example: If you're talking about headphones, your keywords might include "best wireless headphones", "headphone review X" or "sports headphones".

5. Do I plan to monitor performance after publication?

Publishing an article doesn't mean your work stops there. You need to plan regular performance monitoring to understand how your content is performing and optimize it accordingly.

Recommended tools :

  • Google Analytics for tracking visits and behavior
  • Dashboard (e.g. Affilizz) to track clicks, sales and revenue generated
Tip: Set yourself a reminder to check the results the day after publication: a very short reading time for your article, for example, indicates that it lacks interest and needs to be enriched! Ideally, the minimum reading time should be 1 min; ideally more than 1min30. Check your results one week and then one month after publication, to adjust your strategy if necessary.

6. Does the content add real value thanks to my personal experience?

Finally, to stand out, your content must offer something unique to your audience. Share your personal experience, tips or concrete testimonials to enrich your article and more easily convince your readers.

Example: If you recommend a software product, explain clearly how you use it on a daily basis and how it has helped you personally to solve a specific problem.
